Print Making

1.     Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
The overall composition of my print I think shows very well. There is an even balance between positive and negative space. The print is also clear and easy to make out what the animal is.
2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
I added contrast to my print by using equality of positive and negative space. I don't think i added enough texture the way I should have. There was no where i though that I could add texture.
3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
I used positive and negative space by using he black and red of the lady bug. I cut out all the spots and on the ladybug leaving just the body to be printed witht the ink.
4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
The craftsmanship of my overall print I feel is pretty stong. There are no spots on the print where there should'nt have been ink and there was and the picture was very clear. The animal was also the dominant feature of the print so it is easy to tell what the print is of.
5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
I do not think I showed depth using different backgrounds. The ladybug is so up close that i didnt know what could have been a foreground and background other than a leaf. which is hard to show the texture to.
6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I feel the obstacles were deciding what to cut out and what to leave. I feel like it would have been more successful if I had done it the other way around because the background would have been more noticable.

Print Sketch

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
Texture is important in sketches because it gives the animal character and defines certain features. Wihtout texture you wouldnt know if the animal had fur, scales, feathers, etc.
2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
It is neccessary because by just looking at one picture you may not be able to see every feature that you would like to see. By having multiple references you can see diffrent angles so taht you can do your own sketch how you want it. You can use different parts of different references.
3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
Yes I am able to tell by the amount of texture in each skecth. I would also look at each sketch and the differnt places that have the best contrast of positive and negative space, and texture.

Interactive Mural

1. Explain your experience working on a team and executing your ideas for the mural.
Wokring as a team to come up with ideas for this mural was actually really easy. Everyone in the group contributed their own ideas and opinions so it was easy to make decision. I feel that with my group everyone was making sure that every idea was heard so that no one felt left out or inferior.
2. Explain the importance of collaboration when working on a team.
Collaboration is very important when working as a team because there is more than one opinion between everyone. You may think you have a great idea but when another member in the group shares their idea you may agree theirs is better. In order to succeed all group memebers need to be willing to share all their ideas.
3.  How successful was this project? Explain how and why.
I feel like this project was very successful. Everyone in my group participated equally and was always working hard to get what we needed done. In the end our final mural looked really good and I have heard many people compliment our particular mural in the hallways.
4. Explain how you feel about creating artwork that others can interact with. Ex. Invoving the whole school?
I like the idea that the whole school can see our artwork, iteract with it, and have fun! It makes me feel good when I hear people say that they like the bookshelf mural.
